Almost everyone has tried to print their hand, leg or face in a printer. It is human nature to use an existing tool creatively again and again and to want to handle it differently than before. This experience will flow into the design of the bench. A bench is an ordinary, easily overlooked object. When people are on this bench, they leave a trace of their whereabouts on the surface of the bench. When another person comes to the bench, they will notice that someone has been here before. This interaction creates a connection between two people who have never met before, and this connection is created by the bench. With the help of themochormic colour (which changes from black to transparent when the surface temperature exceeds 27 degrees Celsius), the person’s stay on the bench is preserved and presented as a silhouette. This trace remains on the bench for a certain time, depending on the ambient temperature. It is as if people had printed a trace of their stay on this bench.
